The staff of Mount Carmel would like to welcome you to our Hospital. In order to make your stay here as comfortable as possible you may find the following information helpful:

Admission Time / Check In

Please check your admission time with your Consultant’s Private Secretary.  On arrival at the Hospital please check in at the Main Reception area and you will be directed to the appropriate area for your admission to be processed.

Fasting / Admission Instructions

All patients attending for a surgical procedure or endoscopy need to fast completely from midnight the night prior to surgery – no food or drinks (including water) allowed after midnight.  For Paediatric Admissions – please see section below.

Patients should remove all jewellery, make up, contact lenses and nail varnish if applicable prior to having a surgical procedure.

Insurance Cover / Shortfalls

It is important that you bring details of your insurance cover, membership number and plan as you will need to complete a health insurance form on admission.  If you have a shortfall on your policy, you will be contacted by our accounts team in advance of admission and can pay your shortfall at this time or on admission.

Items to bring for an overnight stay

If your visit to the hospital requires an overnight stay, the following items may be useful:

	Pyjamas or night dress
	Dressing gown and slippers
	Toiletries (soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, brush, tissues etc)
	Allergies etc – Patients are requested to alert nursing staff to any allergies / reactions to medication they may have.
	Medication - Patients are requested to bring any medications they are taking and copies of any prescriptions if possible.

Please leave your valuables at home. Whilst your room will have a personal safe, Mount Carmel cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal possessions whilst you
are in the hospital.

Paediatric Admissions

Please note the following for children attending for surgery;

	Fasting instructions need to be checked directly with your Consultant.
	All minors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.  If your child requires an overnight stay, one parent must stay overnight and accommodation will be provided.
	Siblings of children are not permitted to attend the hospital outside of visiting times.
	For younger children, please bring a favourite toy or teddy bear on the day.
	Medication - Patients are requested to bring any medications they are taking and copies of any prescriptions if possible.

Payment / ATM Services

Mount Carmel accepts all types of payment for services – Cash, Cheque, Credit Card, Laser/Visa Debit.

There are currently no ATM Services available at the Hospital.

Restaurant

The restaurant, which is situated on the fourth floor of the hospital, overlooks the gardens
and serves a range of hot and cold dishes. It is available to patients and their visitors from 8.00am - 6.00pm every day.

After hours there are vending machines located on the Ground Floor of the hospital for visitors to use.

Shop

The shop is located on the ground floor near the main entrance which is open Monday - Friday from 7.30am - 8.00pm and Saturday from 7.30am to 6.30pm.

Baby food is also available for purchase in the hospital shop.

Telephone/TV/WiFi Services

A public telephone booth is available on the ground floor next to the lift. All rooms and wards have telephones. The use of Mobile Phones is strictly prohibited.

Televisions are available in all wards and rooms.

There are Wi Fi Services available from both the Main Reception Area and Restaurant 4th Floor.

Visiting

Mount Carmel Hospital does not have formal visiting hours and welcomes visitors.  We would ask that you would respect any notices with regard to visiting restrictions that may be displayed from time to time.

Smoking

We have a no smoking policy in the hospital, however there is a gazebo located in the hospital gardens for people who wish to smoke.
